Dungeon Crawl

(Redirected from Party Bear)

If you're looking for this event's flavor text, see Dungeon Crawl (flavor text).

Dungeon Crawl is an option found in Ooo. It cannot simply be a random event.

The Dungeon Crawl involves exploring the Dungeon of the Forgotten Dunes. It is comprised of an entrance test and up to 3 challenges afterwards. Failure in the entrance test or any challenge prevents going to the next challenge or digging up any treasure. A reward can be obtained after each of the 3 challenges, though claiming a reward prevents going to the next challenge. Items used for the entrance test or any challenge are consumed unless it is mentioned otherwise.

The entrance test is followed by Lv 1, which is followed by Lv 2, which is followed by Lv 3. One event for you to contend with for each is selected randomly out of each of these pools:

  • Entrance test pool: Skinny, Sleeping, and Big Lizard Guard
  • Lv 1 challenge pool: Sphinx, Incoming Monster, Ghost, Dune Beetles, Dune Guard, Big Mouth Monster, and Party Bear.
  • Lv 2 challenge pool: Dark Cave and Incoming Monster.
  • Lv 3 challenge pool: Demon Sphinx, Incoming Monster, Ghost, Dune Beetles, Dune Guard, Big Mouth Monster, and Party Bear.

Note that the 3 inside events have no "once per Crawl" limit; the Incoming Monster can even appear 3 times in one Crawl.

Entrance Test[edit | edit source]

You encounter 1 of 3 possible lizard guards. You can try to fight with bare hands against/run past/sneak past each guard or use an item. You can also simply leave the event without trying to get past; unlike the inside challenges, there is no penalty for this.

  • Skinny Guard: You can fight him with your bare hands with a high chance to succeed. The sneak option will result in your Incapacitation.
  • Sleeping Guard: You can sneak past him with a high chance to succeed; the Sneaky feat improves the chance to sneak past. The run past option will result in your Incapacitation.
  • Big Guard: You can run past him with a high chance to succeed. The fight with bare hands option will result in your Incapacitation.
  • Fighting a sleeping guard with bare hands/sneaking past a big guard/running past a skinny guard can succeed or result in Incapacitation with medium chance for both.

Using an item will always make you succeed the test (aside from using a (Holy) Hammer on a Big Guard, which will fail.) Available item options: Demon Sword (doesn't break), Hypno Glasses, Hammer (breaks even if Holy), Sword (breaks even at 3 charges).

(Demon) Sphinx[edit | edit source]

In these 2 challenges, you are asked random questions with 4 answer choices. The same questions can be found in the Questions!? event.

  • The Sphinx found in Lv 1 asks 1 trivia question.
  • The Demon Sphinx found in Lv 3 asks 2 trivia questions.
  • Truth Serum can be used to answer 1 question correctly automatically (along with activating drinking related effects). (2 vials can be used for the Demon Sphinx if the player can manage to quickly get a 2nd vial.)
  • Answering incorrectly or waiting until 15 seconds pass to act results in death even if you're a Lawyer.
  • The Trivia Expertise feat will remove 1 incorrect answer choice from any questions given.

Incoming Monster[edit | edit source]

This challenge can appear in all 3 Lvs with varying spaces required. It requires the player to move at least a certain visible amount of spaces away from the beginning spot. (Forwards or backwards from the beginning spot can work.) Failure to move at least the listed amount of spaces away before continuing results in death.

Possible movement ranges needed for each Lv:

  • Lv 1: 3-5 spaces away
  • Lv 2: 6-9 spaces away
  • Lv 3: 10-14 spaces away

Dark Cave[edit | edit source]

This challenge only appears in Lv 2. You fail the challenge immediately if you do not have Night Vision upon encounter. The player must choose the exit to succeed. (Will appear somewhere in the event image; Can randomly be either a green door at the middle left, a ladder in the middle, or a hatch at the bottom right) The event also fails if the player chooses any option that's not an exit, or if the player waits more than 10 seconds to choose the exit. Failure results in death.

Dune Guard[edit | edit source]

The Dune Guard has a certain visible amount of HP that can be brought down with items, and any amount of your items can be used while it has HP. Bringing the HP down to 0 or lower completes the event. If you fail, you will be Incapacitated.
