Shop Introduction[edit | edit source]

Muramasa's Sword Forge

While walking along the path, you notice your surroundings getting increasingly darker despite it being daytime. Before you know it, you stand in a field polluted with dismembered corpses in the dark of night with a light in the distance. You walk towards the light, which reveals itself to be a forge with a muscular, disheveled old man hammering away at a red-hot sword.

Standard:

Upon arriving at the forge, the old man senses your presence, has an evil sounding chuckle, and stops hammering on his katana before facing you with a sinister smile.

"Hello mortal child. Before you stands Muramasa Sengo, master swordsmith of the Muramasa school. Here in my forge within the depths of Yomi, I forge many blades that guide the killers that wield them to legend. Each of these blades are designed to kill men, women, beasts, children, and other beings alike."

"Now you look like a devotee of murder, so I can part with some of my blades here... for a price."

As Oni:

Upon arriving at the forge, the old man immediately stops hammering on his blade and quickly grabs another sword next to him as he turns around and assumes a combat stance.

"I see another oni has stepped into my forge. Now I'm sure you're here to buy a blade off of me, but you'd best behave or you'll end up as decoration like the last foolish oni over there rotting in the corner."

With Eighth Sphere Of Heaven and not an Oni:

Upon arriving at the forge, the old man senses your presence, has an evil sounding chuckle, and stops hammering on his katana before facing you with a sinister smile.

"Hello mortal child. Before you stands Muramasa Sengo, master swordsmith of the Muramasa school. Here in my forge within the depths of Yomi, I forge many blades that guide the killers that wield them to legend. Each of these blades are designed to kill men, women, beasts, children, and other beings alike."

"Now you bear a rather disappointing aura of innocence. I got blades that can help you shed such naiveté from your soul... for a price."

Upon reaching the Forge again with Eighth Sphere Of Heaven as an Oni:

Upon arriving at the forge, the old man immediately stops hammering on his blade and quickly grabs another sword next to him as he turns around and assumes a combat stance.

The old swordsmith blinks a few times as if he realized something. "Wait, you were here earlier. You were an oni to begin with!? Shit, how did I not realize this, and how were you actually smart enough to remain civilized before?"

Upon reaching the Forge again having lost the Oni race:

Upon arriving at the forge, the old man immediately stops hammering on his blade and quickly grabs another sword next to him as he turns around and assumes a combat stance.

The old swordsmith blinks a few times before looking annoyed. "Oh. You're trying your hand at shapeshifting, are you? Clearly you need to do better than that oni."

Muramasa's Sword Forge
The old swordsmith points to a nearby rack with weapons on it.

"Here are my wares fit for murder. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them." Then the old swordsmith emits an evil chuckle. / As Oni: The old swordsmith points to a nearby rack with weapons on it while still keeping his guard up. "Those blades over there are for sale. No, I'm NOT giving these away for free. I obviously require money for them."

Item Price Description upon purchase
Skinning Knife 3 Rupees The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "Now this is a weapon that can cut like any other blade. However, it's best used for harvesting the flesh of your victims with its thin edge. You can make lots of things with the skin your killings provide, or..." The old swordsmith grins wickedly. "...you could make a killing in the markets of Yomi with any human hides you make." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "Trying to make your own skins instead of relying on the merchants of Yomi, are you? Or are you trying to beat them at their own game? Well, I suppose this can help with acquiring funds on that front. Try not to spend them all in one place, or at least spend them all at my forge."
Ethereal Dagger 10 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "This is a tanto blessed by the dead of Yomi and their cries for vengeance. It's excellent for getting your revenge should some cretin manage to slay you. Ideally, a hardened killer such as yourself wouldn't let that happen, but still." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with a smirk at your selection. "How unusual. It seems the screams of the yurei within that tanto have only grown louder when you took hold of it. I wonder how many of their deaths were by your hands. I wonder how many more victims you will add to this tanto."
Tetsubo 12 Rupees The old swordsmith looks surprised upon seeing that a Tetsubo was available. "Hm? How did that brutish thing end up here? Probably one of those irritating oni left it behind in a drunken stupor." The old swordsmith then gets angry. "Bah! Those damned oafs are always making a mess everywhere they go! Just take it off my hands, and go crush the skull of the lout who left this here if you find him." / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks surprised upon seeing that a Tetsubo was available, then grumbles in annoyance. "I'm not surprised that you would choose a weapon left here by another of your damned kind. Do make sure that this club NEVER makes it back here as my forge is NOT a storage room for trash like that."
Riftslasher 18 Rupees The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "This is a tsurugi that I initially thought was worthless as some strange sorcery has weakened the blade to where it's slowly but constantly disintegrating. After gutting a thief who had the gall to attempt to steal my weapons, I discovered that it can open rifts through the universe which I'm sure would be useful for buyers. It still doesn't solve the issue of the weapon slowly disintegrating though." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with a confused look on his face at your selection. "I'm surprised you chose that tsurugi. With your strength, it could shatter in one strike. I suppose its ability to open holes in the universe can be valuable in case you want to drag some fool from another reality into this hell in case the usual sinners bore you."
Sword 20 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a bit of disappointment on his face at your selection. "This is one of my inferior blades that warriors alive and dead keep asking for despite the weapon being better for impaling than cutting. I don't understand why the gaijin would STILL use a tsurugi when my land has swapped to superior blades long ago. Surely their kami aren't that hungry for tribute?" / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with an amused look on his face at your selection. "This is supposed to be a tsurugi that the gaijin prefer for some reason, but it might as well be a tanto to you given your prodigious bulk. At least it's good for stabbing and impaling like a tanto, or for appeasing your delusions of being more than a lowly servant of Enma."
Exglitchibur 20 Rupees The old swordsmith looks rather nervous at your selection. "Here's another tsurugi, but some peculiar force has tainted it. It doesn't look like the blessing of any kami I've ever seen, and I don't think they could or would do something like this to it. It can't even cut consistently like the average blade for some strange reason, and merely testing it further has done immense damage to my forge and the surrounding area. If you want to test it out, do so far away from my forge." / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks utterly terrified at your selection. "C-c-careful with that you damned fool! You could annihilate this whole area with your mishandling, and repairing my forge costs more than the worth of your wretched kind! If you're going to use that tsurugi, at least go unleash hell in the mortal world or something!"
Artendellen 21 Rupees The old swordsmith looks rather disappointed with your selection. "That blade is not one of my creations, but it fell down here in Yomi along with the corpse of some foolish hero." The old swordsmith then grunted in annoyance. "It reminds me of those treacherous Tokugawa of Mikawa who misused my gifts to bring about their so-called 'peace'." / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks surprised at your selection, but then emits a chuckle. "A murderous yokai like YOU wielding a sword of light? How amusing. Even if you accept the tsurugi's might, the tsurugi itself will NEVER accept you. That being said, I can at least accept you taking that damned weapon off my hands."
Cutlass 21 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "It's nice to see some gaijin understanding the value of a curved blade in slashing through enemies. I find their ruthlessness and quickness to kill respectable as well, even if they are rather materialistic like the Wokou I once heard of." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with a smirk at your selection. "What's this? Are the agonized screams of Jigoku's sinners not payment enough for you? Well, this blade can get you currency for the mortal realm in case you somehow would rather buy something while you're there than kill its owner for it."
Frostmourne 21 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "Here's a soul-devouring tsurugi that has its priorities straight, and thus this one actually has my respect. It does make the forge rather cold, but at least the fires and blessings of Kagutsuchi help counteract the chill." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "Let me guess, Enma wanted you to bring this tsurugi back to whichever cold realm of Jigoku it was from, didn't he? No? Well, I suppose this wouldn't be out of place in an area like Makahadoma-jigoku. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there were sinners from that realm trapped in the tsurugi."
Katana 21 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "This is a weapon of my homeland, designed for cutting and killing. While not quite the perfect masterpiece I was hoping to make, this one can still do both of those things, guaranteed." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with a hint of surprise on his face at your selection. "Huh. I didn't expect to find a brute to choose a weapon actually worth a damn instead of something barbaric to wander into my forge. Although, wouldn't a nodachi be more useful for you given your size?"
Rapier 21 Rupees The old swordsmith looks rather bewildered at your selection. "Now this blade makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with those foolish gaijin, and what's wrong with you for wanting this feeble metal pole with a handle. This blade is less effective at cutting than the tsurugi! All it can do is stab and thrust, and it's flimsy to boot! This is a great step backwards from the tsurugi they were so content to use." / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks rather bewildered at your selection. "Now why would an oni like you want this flimsy metal pole? With your strength, you could easily snap that pole in half with one hand! I'm sure your big hands would struggle to fit inside the handle as well, given it was designed for mortals."
Buster Sword 25 Rupees The old swordsmith acknowledges your selection with a nod, then he just remembered something. "Ah. That blade. Once upon a time, I had a dream of an alabaster-haired man who slaughtered many in his path with elegance and precision. While normally impressive, I was gravely disappointed to find he used an accursed Masamune nodachi to pave a path of blood instead of one of my wonderful swords. I didn't even know the old bastard started forging nodachi in addition to tachi and tanto. However, I had a thought of forging a blade that could counter such a nodachi so he would ditch it and wield one of my weapons instead, and that's how I forged this immense blade in a rush." / As Oni: The old swordsmith acknowledges your selection with a nod. "I had a feeling that a brute like you would choose an equally brutal blade. It contains sorceries within it for those who break their limits, although I doubt a thickheaded fool like you would figure out how to evoke such power."
Demon Sword 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "While still an inferior tsurugi, at least this one has been granted the blessings of Kagutsuchi. The dead kami made the tsurugi more durable and he even had it grant its wielder protection from his fiery wrath. He has helped me forge many masterpieces in life and in death, and that has earned him my worship even here in Yomi despite Izanami's displeasure." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "Ok, be honest with me oni. You picked this tsurugi because it has “Demon” in its name, didn't you? Then again, I guess some areas of Jigoku are rather scorching hot even for your kind, like Abi-jigoku."
Claíomh Solais 35 Rupees The old swordsmith looks surprised that this sword was present in his forge before recoiling in disgust. "Eugh, that damned shining tsurugi showed up at my forge again! Take that wretched thing out of my forge at once! No, I didn't forge this abomination myself!" / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks surprised that this sword was present in his forge before recoiling in disgust. "Eugh, that damned shining tsurugi showed up at my forge again! How in the many hells of Jigoku are you NOT being annihilated while holding it!? At least, get that damned thing out of my forge!"
Hofud 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "That is a tsurugi that belonged to a kami from a distant land whose job was to watch for invaders. The blade can open rifts to worlds with more victims to kill. However, the kami generally only uses it to help observe and protect his land.' Then the old swordsmith begins to frown. 'What a waste of splendid power." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "I see you're eyeing a tsurugi that belongs to beings far above you brutes. At least this one can open rifts to other worlds in case you want to spread terror to them. It's certainly an improvement over you loitering in my forge."
Kris Of Empu Gandring 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "Ah yes, that unfinished tanto. Apparently some treacherous bodyguard made a request for that to be made, only to get impatient enough to kill the blacksmith before it was fully finished. I would have finished the tanto myself if it didn't have such a peculiar design, and if it weren't for the rather potent curse on it." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods at your selection, but looks like he's expecting you to attack him with it. "I would like to inform you that you wouldn't be the first to try that, so don't think about it. It's not like I can improve that tanto with that curse on it anyway. At least it's still good for stabbing as is, so you shouldn't be complaining."
Kronos' Sickle 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods at your selection. "That is certainly a strange kind of weapon from a distant land used by one of their kami. While I would never use such a peculiar weapon if it were normal, the power over time this particular one has would make me reconsider, as there's much utility in such power." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with a confused look on his face at your selection. "How strange that you would want this weapon of time. Doesn't your master give you all the time in existence to torture the sinners of Jigoku? Or do you have other sinister plans for it besides reviving the sinners to torture them again? If so, it better not involve my forge."
The Glory Of Ten Powers 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods while chuckling at your selection. "Now here's some humor in the form of a tsurugi. The couple behind this tsurugi actually thought this weapon designed for killing could prevent violence." The old swordsmith then begins laughing hysterically. "How delusional." / As Oni: The old swordsmith starts laughing hard at your selection. "Now this joke involving that tsurugi just gets funnier and funnier, and now I FINALLY see a use for your kind! Those two who made that tsurugi thought it could prevent violence. Feel free to bring that to Jigoku or the mortal realm and prove the foolish couple very wrong with your mayhem and malice."
The Grim Reaper's Scythe 35 Rupees The old swordsmith nods with a smile at your selection. "Now here's a farming tool that was left behind by some strange yurei who browsed through my wares. He didn't look like any servant of Izanami or Enma I have ever seen, and it didn't seem like he left it here by accident." The old swordsmith then becomes lost in contemplation. "Curious, but it did look like it had taken so many lives, so I was fine with this gift." / As Oni: The old swordsmith nods with an amused look on his face at your selection. "What's this? Fancy being like the mortal farmers after all of your misdeeds?" The old swordsmith then emits a chuckle. "Of course not. That would be a waste of this deathly gift from distant lands aimed to reap souls. At least, you ARE going to use this for reaping souls and not harvesting crops, right?"
Insufficient funds quote
The old swordsmith looks confused.

"Hmm? Can't afford it? That's unfortunate. I'm sure there's someone out there you can murder for their money if you want this weapon."

The old swordsmith then grins maliciously.

"If you do kill someone for money, feel free to come again with his corpse. I could use more corpses to test my blades." / As Oni: "No you damned fool! I told you I am NOT giving my blades away for free! Does ANY of your wretched kind even know what currency is, or that I still need to buy food with it down here!?"

Death quote
You seem to have died at Muramasa's Sword Forge. The old swordsmith uses your corpse to test the sharpness of his swords.
Leaving quote
The old swordsmith smiles malevolently.

"Excellent purchases. May my blades help you forge a body count worthy of legend." / As Oni: The old swordsmith grunts.

"Yes yes, thanks for your business. Say, if you encounter your lord Enma, could you tell him not to send the cretins of his armies to my forge as they keep making a mess of it? Thanks in advance."

Muramasa's Sword Forge
The old swordsmith looks confused.

"Hm? Did your bloodlust already recede? How unfortunate. If it returns, I'm sure you'll find me again in time, or after you die at least." / As Oni: The old swordsmith looks annoyed.

"Oh, changed your mind did you? Fine, go then you damned boor."
