"Playing the wiki"[edit source]

@Silicon and Emthana: I know the old(est that I know of) wiki and the Orain wiki both had pages that literally looked like events in the game. As such, this imported version of the wiki is the same. I think Item pages will probably be okay as is, but I think we need to figure out and stick with an agreed upon way to make event pages. NDKilla (talk) 15:35, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

@Alche: I hope you see this :P I'm more than glad to have you contributing to this wiki! I just wanted to decide how to handle event pages since you seem to be fixing information (which is good) but continuing to write it in the current layout/formatting, which I believe a lot of players dislike. (These pages were all copied from the old OLD BGO wiki). NDKilla (talk) 11:23, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
My current thought is that instead of having different pages for sub events and link spamming to make players more or less go through the event in a game-like manner, there should be one page per event, with all sub events and options listed under various headings. I'll edit a page later to give an example. NDKilla (talk) 13:11, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
I don't know how to use this, hope I'm doing it right.
@NDKilla: I agree with the current layout being not that good, I honestly already had some problems with it. Your idea seems good, but I will wait for the example before giving my opinions. For now, guess I will focus on item pages. Alche (talk) 18:52, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
@Alche: I'll post an example soon. I'm starting a boss game right now with the intent of finding events to write pages. Also, you did it mostly right (the ping and signature). Generally on talk pages, each reply is indented an extra level. Each : at the start of a line indents the text an extra notch. NDKilla (talk) 19:54, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
@NDKilla: Just checked The Abandoned Mine page and I think I understand your idea. The idea is overall good, but not totally practical, can I edit it to demonstrate how it should be imo? (I will undo the edit if you don't like it.) Alche (talk) 14:07, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
@Alche: All edits can be easily undone :) Feel free to edit the page and we will compare. We can go back and forth with it to make it look nice. NDKilla (talk) 20:36, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
@Alche: looks nice :) Now Arch dig needs to be set up the same way, etc. :p arch dig is played eww.. NDKilla (talk) 03:45, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
@NDKilla: I think I can't delete pages with my user rights, but you are probably able to do it. So, can you delete some sub-events of The Abandoned Mine? Like Crystal Formation. Keep the ones I mentioned on the page, like Crack In The Wall and Ice. Alche (talk) 20:47, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
@Alche: I've gone ahead and deleted several sub-event pages. Please check the deletion log and make sure I didn't delete anything you wanted. If I did, I can easily restore it. PS: If you want administrator rights (mostly deleting pages, moving pages without leaving redirects, and protecting page titles), feel free to ask. You're my most likely choice but I'd feel more confident if you how to use the few tools it grants you access to. As such, I recommend you navigate to test.miraheze.org (or the site it redirects to, in this instance) and I can give you administrator rights there so you may practice deleting and protecting pages. NDKilla (talk) 23:33, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
@NDKilla: Thanks, these were exactly the pages I wanted removed. I'm not interested in being an administrator rn, but thanks for the offer, I will think about it. I'm already administrator at another wiki and that's enough to me. Alche (talk) 00:23, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Main page and getting people involved[edit source]

@Alche and Alphabet: Do you two (and anyone else who sees this) think we should do anything to the main page? The FAQ is just copy/pasted from BGO's site, but I'm not sure about the other stuff. NDKilla (talk) 11:26, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Well, we could probably add a link to a Spells page. As for Event setup, I support going about it in a manner similar to how Abandoned Mine is setup, with pictures if we can get some. User:Alphabet 18:03, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
@NDKilla and Alphabet: We should do something in the main page. Doesn't look like a serious main page, but I see it as low priority (we don't have much content to link). Alche (talk) 20:07, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
I think a "Turn Structure" page link should be added to the main page with all the Phases being indented underneath it. The Phase pages would absorb all the proper links from the Events page, so the Events page could be deleted. I deem this the best course since it seems very odd to have events from various Phases all under one page. (By the way, I can't actually access the BGO website because my internet is on limited usage since the subscription just ran out, so my contributions will be lacking for a bit.) Deleting pages[edit source]

@Alche: and others: Currently, pages can only be deleted by administrators. Which basically means they can only be deleted by me. If you'd like to have a page deleted, you can use {{Template:FFD}} to put a notice on the page and add it to a category that I will check regularly. I will look at these pages one by one and delete pages I think should be deleted (basically whether or not the page currently serves any purpose). Please specify a reason when flagging pages by using the reason argument. {{FFD|This is the reason}} or {{FFD|reason=This is the reason}} will work. NDKilla (talk) 02:52, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
