The Dragon

If you're looking for this event's flavor text, see The Dragon (flavor text).

The Dragon is a subevent that can be reached with the [A card picturing a fire-breathing lizard.] option in Cards Of Fate, from The Cave in the City Over The Narrow Sea, or from the Light Passage Inside The Cave.

Upon reaching this event, The Dragon will normally be in 1 of 3 primary states: Standard, Angry, or Sleeping. (Note that the state among these 3 can be affected by a previous visit to The Dragon "sometimes" according to the admin, Dysprosium. He "cannot specify" if this is situational or RNG related in order to keep the "internal magic" of the event.)

If The Dragon has been killed and has not been revived or replaced during Round Effects, it will instead be in the Dead state upon encounter.

If The Dragon has been captured in a Filled Pocket Ball and hasn't been used standardly (including being released), there will be No Dragon upon encounter. (If the Filled Pocket Ball with the Dragon is used against the Libido Demon or sold to Ace Ventura, No Dragon will be the permanent state for this event. If it is used standardly, The Dragon returns to 1 of its 3 primary states. (It's not been tested if it will always be in a specific state at this point.))

In each below scenario where The Dragon's state changes to Standard, Angry, or Sleeping, you have a chance to act again.

  • ACME Piano: The Dragon starts Sleeping.
  • Chicken/Cow: Randomly either you gain 9-16 Rupees and a random Magic Crystal or The Dragon starts Sleeping.

The Dead Dragon[edit | edit source]

  • You can either leave or attempt to revive The Dragon. You can use the Resurrect skill or any Spell item/skill charged with Revive or Life Ward to revive The Dragon. (The Divine Prayer Spell and items like Hellpriest and Defibrillator can't be used to revive it.) Upon its revival, The Dragon will be vulnerable to being captured with a Pocket Ball for 1 screen only, on the Draconic Revival/Draconic Resurrection page. Upon continuing, it will be in the Standard state with the same options available as normal. (There is currently a glitch where the artwork may depict it as Sleeping, though it isn't.) Interestingly, reviving The Dragon somehow also restores the Hoard and Nest (unless it is captured with a Pocket Ball, in which case they're not restored.)
  • While The Dragon is in the Dead state, a new, living Dragon can replace the old one during Round Effects. Note that this doesn't apply to if this event is in the No Dragon state.

No Dragon[edit | edit source]

  • Your only option is to leave.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The Dragon's Hoard contains 20-30 Rupees, a random Magic Crystal, an Eye Of The Dragon, and either an Ancient Dragon Claw or Dragon Wings. It can also contain a basic Shield and/or a Sword with 1 charge.
  • The Hoard and Nest are always present as options in the 3 primary states of this event unless they've been stolen from in a previous trip (by any player.) (If one has been stolen from, it's replenished during a future Round Effects if The Dragon is present and alive in her cave.)
  • If you kill The Dragon, you gain her Hoard if it is present and also gain the Dragon Egg in her Nest if it is present. You then have an opportunity to use your Skinning Knife to gain a Dragonskin.
  • Your chance of successfully stealing the Hoard or stealing from the Nest increases for the 3 primary forms when you have the Sneaky Buff. Also, the Angry state appears to have a lower chance of success than the Standard state, and the Standard state has a lower chance of success than the Sleeping state.
  • Your chance to simply leave from The Angry Dragon without dying is increased if you have Shield's passive active.
  • Your chance to successfully kill The Dragon with a Sword or Demon Sword is increased if you have Shield's passive active and is also increased if she's Sleeping.
